Books- Book Store Adventures- Fifth Street Books in Mebane NC

I love books.  Since I love books, it makes perfect sense that I would adore bookstores.   With this in mind, I thought it was high time I became familiar with the bookstores in my area and the bookstores I find in places where I may travel. If you want to look at my first post that highlights five fun bookstores, I found online, click  HERE As you know I love books. I am always on the hunt for those bookstores that sometimes turn out to be hidden gems. Whenever I visit a new town I look for local bookshops where I can explore new and used books to hopefully find my next great read.  My daughter has been on a mission to find old books to decorate the bookcase in her new home. She somehow stumbled upon a very large used book store called. Fifth Street Books in Mebane, NC. She was told it had a very large section and a wide variety of used books. She told me she was headed that way and I said, "wait for me" and off we went to this local bookstore.  This is one of the best-use

Sunday Shopping On Amazon-What to Wear to a Pumpkin Patch

Image
The fall season is finally upon us. To me, that means cooler weather, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and fall outfits. This is the perfect time to head out to your area pumpkin patch to pick a few pumpkins or have a pumpkin patch photoshoot. As I am thinking of visiting a pumpkin patch, I am also thinking of pumpkin patch outfit ideas. Many things come to mind as I think of fall outfit ideas. I think of a cozy sweater, a plaid shirt, a midi skirt, a nice pair of jeans, tall boots, denim or leather jackets and the list of outfits for favorite fall activities goes on and on. For the cute outfits that come to mind, I usually lean toward a classic look or a casual look. With that in mind, let's head to Amazon and see what fall themes in fashion we can find. (I am an Amazon Affiliate.  If you buy anything using my links, I will get a small percent of the sale with no added cost to you...Thanks!) 1- Daily Ritual Women's Fine Gauge Stretch Crewneck Pullover Sweater  I think this cozy sw

Books, Food, Beverages and More - Bringing My Books to Life

Image
Welcome to "Books Beverages and More."  I love to make books come to life in some way in my own reality, so I decided to start this segment.  In some way, I will bring something that happened in the book to my life.  Let's get started...                                 I enjoyed The Southern Book Club's Guide to Vampire Slaying, but that does not mean I want to invite a vampire into my home.  Yikes, that would be horrifying.  That got me thinking about what is an excellent drink to have regarding this book?  The answer is probably a very dark red wine would be perfect. I did find a site that sells Vampire Wine.  It is from a winery called Vampire Vineyards .  It is a really fun site.  They have many exciting vampire wines. One of the wines is wearing a Dracula cape.  I was all set to order from them, but shipping was $22, which is a bit too high for me.                                              I am headed to Wegmans to find a wine... I chose a nice Rose'. ****

Shopping-Seven Boots to Buy On Amazon For Fall

Image
Yes, it is still hot here in North Carolina, but we are slowly slipping into fall. We are actually seeing temps in the high 60s in the mornings, and I must say I am loving it. With the cooler weather on the way, I find myself thinking of my fall wardrobe and fall fashion. With sweater weather on the way, I thought it may be time to look for a nice pair of boots for boot season on Amazon. The variety of boots found on Amazon is endless. I found knee boots, thigh-high boots, ugg boots, western boots, winter boots, and the list goes on and on. I decided to look for boots that I knew I would wear, in other words, the best boots for my style of fashion.  I did throw in a pair of cowboy boots because my granddaughter just bought a pair, and they look great on her. I have never owned a pair of cowboy boots, but I found many that I liked on Amazon. (I am an Amazon Affiliate.  If you buy anything using my links, I get a small percent of the purchase with no added cost to you.  Thanks!)   Fall B

Food-The Queen and Marmalade Sandwiches

Image
I do not follow the goings on of the royal family.  Over the years, I have heard bits and pieces of their lives, but other than an occasional tidbit of news, gossip, or a tragedy such as with Princess Diana, I know very little.   For some reason, I have always had great respect for the Queen.  She always seemed to be a person of high integrity, plus her physical appearance reminded me of my grandmother.  Since her death, I have read a few articles in relation to her life, and it has been an amazing one.  As far as food it seems she enjoyed marmalade.  There is even mention of marmalade sandwiches. The skit above was made with Paddington Bear for an upcoming Jubliee.  In the skit, Paddington Bear, who loves marmalade, had a marmalade sandwich hidden in his hat.  The queen surprises Paddington with one she carries in her purse. It seems that the Queen did enjoy marmalade on her morning toast, but there is no mention of her eating marmalade sandwiches.   After the Queen's death, peop

Books-Book Recommendations For Oct 2022 Plus What I will be Reading for October

Image
I love to read scary books in October, but not too frightening.  I like a good horror story if it is not too graphic.  I love suspense and mystery and even a good scary romance if it is not too steamy.  With all of that in mind, I decided to look at ten possible reads for the Holloween season, Oct 2022 Here is what I came up with... (You can click the book link to go to Amazon to learn more about the book.  If you buy anything while on Amazon using my links, I receive a small percentage with zero extra cost to you.  Thanks!) My Youtube Version The Books Recommended by YouTubers 1- Thinner by Stephen King - Billy Halleck commits vehicular manslaughter when his lack of attention results in the death of an old gypsy lady on the street. Overweight Halleck is a lawyer with connections, though, and he gets off with a slap on the wrist. After the trial, the victim's ancient father curses him with a single word: "thinner". Shedding weight by the week, Halleck is desperate enough

Travel, Upstate NY, The Corning Museum of Glass, Corning NY

Image
I took this trip with the Road Scholars in 2015 and had a wonderful time.  Let's revisit my adventure.  While I was with the Road Scholars in NY, we spent time at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning.  What a fantastic place.  The history of glass is something that I had never really thought about.  The wealth of information you will find at this museum is quite interesting.  So much to learn and see. Below are my photos and some tidbits from their website. "You can explore every facet of glass at The Corning Museum of Glass. See more than 35 centuries of glass artistry in the galleries, explore glass innovations in our hands-on science and technology area, and watch live glass demos." "The concept seems so simple. How much can you say about glass? Actually, quite a lot. Glass is a versatile, ancient material still being explored and understood by artists, scientists, and historians today. The story of glass is about art, history, culture, technology,
