Journal Prompt-When was the last time you did something for the first time and how did it make you feel?

Image
Let me think.  When was the last time I did something for the first time, and how did it make me feel?  Several weeks ago, I decided to do something different.  I made reservations to go llama trekking. I was aware of a winery in NC called Divine Llama.  I knew they had wine and llamas, and I had been following their site for some time and thought I needed to stop thinking about going and go.  Wine is nothing new to me as I love a good glass of wine, but llama trekking was an anomaly.  I could not wait to give it a try.  I packed a small backpack with what I thought I would need on the trail and set my GPS for the two hour trip to East Bend, NC. As far as how it made me feel, I found myself excited as I drove the lovely roads of NC to my destination. I was delighted to meet new people on the trail and enjoyed the conversation and the comradery that occurs when trying new things with others.  Meeting the llamas brought me joy.  Their sweetness and beautiful brown eyes warmed my heart. Travel North Carolina- PointLook Out Vineyards in Hendersonville NC

Image
I just took a trip to the western part of  North Carolina.  I decided to try to find a  nice vineyard, and I did.   Point Lookout Vineyards in Hendersonville, NC.  It was lovely. Here is a quote from their website "OUR VINEYARD IS ATOP THE SOUTHEAST SLOPE of Point Lookout Mountain with 30-mile panoramic views. The vines may not appreciate the scenery, but they are greeted with the morning sun and cooling mountain breezes that allow them to produce stunning wines that you will find just as wonderful as the views." They have some lovely whites and reds, and they also carry mead. There is plenty of seating, both indoors and out. The name Point Lookout fits the bill when it comes to describing this location.  If you go, you will find yourself at the literal top of a hill.  There you will find panoramic views of the mountains surrounding you. On the website, they say the view is up to 30 miles. I enjoyed the Dry Riesling.  I sipped my wine while taking in the view of the mountai

Journal Prompt-Do You Believe in Ghosts? Have You Ever Had An Otherworldly Experience?

Image
The question is, do you believe in ghosts, and have you ever had an otherworldly experience?  The answer to that question is maybe and maybe.   I remember growing up and hearing other's experiences and I too wanted to experience something beyond the norm.  My dad had a near-death experience that included finding himself swept into a tunnel and seeing a very bright light beckoning him.  This was before we even knew about the tunnel and light at the end being a thing.  He also saw an apparition, a mist at the foot of his bed one night.  The mist hovered and then floated over to my brother, and hovered over him, and then disappeared.  My dad said this experience brought him comfort. My mom had an experience right after her mother died.  My mom was sleeping in my grandmother's bed a few days after her funeral.  In the middle of the night, my mom felt the bed depress right beside her as though someone was sitting on the bed.  Mom said she felt it was her mother, and she said, &quo

Ten BookTube Terms Defined with a Link to My YouTube Channel

Image
I don't know how many times a term is used on Booktube, and I have no idea what they are talking about.  This happens so often that I decided to look up ten terms commonly used on book review videos to better understand Booktube jargon.  Let's get started. Wrap-Up-A video that shares all the books read over a period of time. TBR-A list of the book that the booktuber plans to read.  TBR="To Be Read." Book Haul-A video that is made for sharing the books a Youtuber just received. Book Tag-A game where a booktuber creates a list of book-related questions.  They tag other members to answer the questions as well.  ARC-This means an Advanced Reader Copy.  This is a book or digital copy sent to a reviewer by the publisher for the reader to review before the publication date. DNF- This means that the reader "did not finish" the book.   RTC-"Review to Come" Reading Slump-Slower reading then usual as if they have lost their inspiration to read. Shout Out- T

New Recipe-Moist Pumpkin Bread

Image
It's fall and a good time to try some pumpkin recipes.  I found this recipe on Pinterest, and I was excited to give it a try.  The recipe comes from a website called Mom, Wife, Busy Life . I studied the ingredients and took a trip to Harris Teeter to bet all the needed ingredients. I used a 9.25x5.25 loaf pan, and it was a perfect fit. It is true the bread was extremely moist.  The flavor was delicious, and I will definitely make it again.   It was easy to make, and I would give it a 5/5 on my cooking scale.   Happy Cooking and Baking, Everyone! Journal Prompt-Where Are You Right Now and How Would You Describe Who You Are?

Image
That is a tough question for me. I can quickly tell you where I am. I am in the mountains of North Carolina. I am all by myself, and I am trying to rediscover who I am. It is fall, and I find myself at a B&B in Hendersonville, NC. Why am I here, you ask? I am here to see the fall leaves. It is the second week in October, and you would expect to find cool weather and a kaleidoscope of beautiful leaves. The reality is that it is in the upper 70's and humid because this area is experiencing the remnants of hurricane Delta. The leaves are in their infancy of beauty I have seen some yellows and light reds and oranges. I know the beauty will follow in the coming weeks.  Who am I? Well, that is an entirely different and much more in-depth and complicated question. I thought I knew who I was, but I don't any longer. I did know who I was and what I wanted earlier in my life; at least I thought I did. As a young girl, I knew I wanted to follow God. I wanted to marry a pastor and h

Morning Motivation. Fear of the Unknown; Brodie and the Grocery Bag

Image
So do not fear,   for I am with you;   do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen  you and help  you;      I will uphold you  with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 On your typical day, my dog Brodie is not afraid of bags of any kind.  He is not fearful of handbags, grocery bags, or trash bags.  He is not even afraid of tea bags.  But this was not your typical day.  It was cold, and the sky was gray.  There was a slight breeze, just enough to transform a plastic bag into an object of fear, at least for Brodie. We were taking one of our multiple daily walks when Brodie's confident gait altered.  His tail went down, his fur began to stand on end, and I heard a low guttural sound that I only hear when the UPS truck stops in front of the house.  I scanned the horizon in search of the cause of this behavior, and there it was, a small plastic grocery bag in a bush swaying in the breeze.  I knew what it was and because of this, I felt no fear.

Travel-Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in Wilson NC

Image
A couple of weeks ago I found myself driving to Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in Wilson North Carolina.  I had heard about this park several years ago and I have wanted to visit for some time. It was a holiday weekend and I had no plans and the drive was just a bit over an hour so I decided to check it out. From the website "Wilson, North Carolina’s story has captivated the imagination of the country. Farm machinery repairman, Vollis Simpson, began making gigantic kinetic sculptures at his family farm in Wilson County when he was nearing retirement age. He kept making his “whirligigs”–seven days a week–until about six months before he dies at the age of 94 in May of 2013. By that time he was famous. The story of Wilson’s campaign to use the renowned whirligigs to recharge its downtown has catapulted the community into the national spotlight. Grants from ArtPlace America, the Kresge Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts have helped the project come close to its goa
