Monday Morning Motivation...Walk by the Spirit...

Image
This week I listened to a sermon by Curtis Andrusko who was speaking at The Summit Church.  It was about the Fruit of the Spirit.  This is how I interpreted his message... I guess there is a way to define us and our walk with or without Christ.  We can be directed by our faith or by our "fleshly" desires.  I have many desires.  I want to travel, I want to enjoy my family, I want to live a safe and secure life.  I want to be happy. Nothing wrong with that.  What Curtis was talking about was.. I am sure all of us have gone the path of at least some of these things.  Thank God that we can find our way back through God's Grace.  I can safely say I can't remember my last orgy...never happened. :-) Most of the things on the list don't apply to me.  But, I do get angry, mostly at the one who broke vows to me and to God and divided our family.  It is now part of a very painful legacy we leave our children and grandchildren. ...

Morning Motivation, How Can I Survive the Pain of Divorce? | Jason Gray

Image
Take a minute to watch this short video by Jason Gray.  He shares his thoughts on divorce and that we can "rise" after the trauma of this life-changing event. "The initiative against despair is to rise and do the next thing". Oswald Chambers We may not understand why some things happen in our lives.  Some of these things may seem impossible but guess what?  God still has a purpose for us, and we can "rise and do the next thing."   For I know the plans  I have for you,” declares the  Lord , “plans to prosper  you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11  (NIV) Thank You God! Morning Motivation Sharing God's Grace and Mercy

Image
I am reading several devotionals at one time.  Not that I am consistent in my reading of any of them, but  I  attempt to read a few pages daily to try to find God's will for me.  One of my favorites is "Glimpses of God's Grace"  by Anita Donahue. Anita speaks of stepping out on faith and passing on God's mercy and grace. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9 This scripture was one of my support scriptures during "the beginning" of the knowledge that my husband was leaving me.  I was extremely weak, and I needed grace, and I needed God's comfort.  He did lift me up, and slowly, very slowly I began to strengthen. For those of you in "the beginning" of this process hold on tightly to this scripture because I can promise you it is true.  Please don't give up or give in to fear, which is so easy to do.  If you are in the process of "the journey" of divorc...

Morning Motivation A Spiritual Short Story. "The Carrot The Egg The Coffee" Which Are You?

Image
I found this short story on a site called  Spiritual Short Stories.  The title of the story and the author are unknown.  As I read the story,  I thought of myself and the many others that have experienced pain and despair caused by an unwanted and unnecessary divorce.     The Story A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one would pop up. Her grandmother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire, and soon the pots came to boil. In the first pot she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a ...
