Travel-A Few Things To Do In North Carolina in October 2024

I am always looking for fun things to do in the area.  I thought I would take it a bit further and see what events are occurring in North Carolina in a specific month.  Let's take a look at just a few things happening in Oct. 2024 in NC that you may enjoy.



I live in the Raleigh/Durham area, so I looked for exciting events to attend in October that are within driving distance.  I would love to attend them all!

Things to do in October 2024 in the Triangle Area



October 4-5 is Triangle Oktoberfest in Cary, NC

October 11-12 is the Eastern Carolina BBQ Throwdown in Rocky Mount, NC

October 17-27 is the NC State Fair in Raleigh, NC

October 19th is the North Carolina Wine Festival in Cary NC.

October 25 is the Pumpkin Flotilla at Bond Park in Cary, NC

Every Weekend in October is the Granville Haunt Farm in Oxford, NC

Every Weekend Oct, 5-November 24, is the Renaissance Festival in Huntersville, NC

October 5-6 is RiverFest in Wilmington, NC

October 11-13 is Oktoberfest in Hickory NC

October 11-13 is The Autumn Leaves Festival in Mt Airy NC

Places-Hiking A Linville Falls Trail in North Carolina.

I honestly can't tell you the name of the trail that Erica and took on our hike.  You go to the Linville Falls Visitors Center,  turn left, and take the path down.  After doing a bit of research, I think it is the Linville Falls Plunge Basin Trail.  It is a more challenging trail then the hike to the right of the visitor center, although that one is lovely. I have done this hike a couple of times.  Always fun.  Just in case it is Linville Falls Plunge Basin Trail here is some info on that hike found on  Asheville Trails Linville Falls Plunge Basin Trail "The hike departs from the Linville Falls visitor center, located off the Blue Ridge Parkway at MP 316 ( view maps and driving directions ), hanging a left in front of the visitor center. A Visit to Burntshirt Vineyards in Hendersonville NC

My visit to Bruntshirt Vineyard was several years ago.  I visited the one in Hendrsonville, NC; there is also a bistro and tasting room in Chimney Rock, NC.  I was just on their site to make sure it is still open during this Covid Pandemic, and it is.  Both sites are open and hosting events.  I wish they were closer to Cary, NC; if they were, I would visit today.  Let's go back to the past and visit Burntshirt Vineyards... It was the final day of my mini-vacation.  I had climbed the stairs to the top of Chimney Rock, I had pontooned beautiful Lake Lure, and I had stayed at the lovely Esmeralda Inn.  Anytime I take a trip, I do my best to visit a local winery, and I had been remiss in my tradition on this trip.   I could just go home, but that would be crazy if there were a local winery to explore.
