Entertainment Wrap up For Nov. 9, 2022

Much is happening in the entertainment area regarding books, TV, and movies.  Here is what I have been watching, reading, and listening to lately.

The YouTube Version

What am I reading?

I just finished a physical book, The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James, and I also completed The Book Of CandleLight by Ellery Adams on Audible. I gave the Book of Cold Cases a 4/5, and I gave the Book of Candlelight 3/5 stars.

I have just started As Long as The Lemon Trees Grow and The Hidden Pictures. I am excited to continue my reading both of them. The first couple of chapters have gotten my attention, and I have high hopes that I will like them. I started my audiobook Demon Copperhead.  This book is based on David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. I am enjoying it so far.  I like the way it is written; it holds my attention.  I have a feeling it is going to be a good but painful listen.

I could not find any short videos related to As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow.

What Am I Watching?

TV Shows

I am really enjoying Survivor this year.  I can't believe it is in its 43rd season. I remember watching the very first one.  I almost did not watch it this year because last year's season became so political, and for me, that took away from the game, so I stopped watching mid-season.  So far this year, it has just been a game, and I have totally enjoyed the play.

I have been watching Hell's Kitchen for years, and this year is no exception.  This will always rank as one of my top reality shows.

I have never been one to watch shows like the bachelor, but this year I decided to take a look at a show in that genre.   I started watching The Real Love Boat. Here is how they describe it

Singles sail the Mediterranean on a luxury cruise ship looking for love, as destination dates, challenges, and surprise singles test the couples' compatibility and chemistry.

I am really enjoying this one.

One show I watched on Netflix is called The Watcher.  It is loosely based on a true story that occurred in New Jersey. I remember hearing a bit about this story on the news years ago.  I found a site that explains what happened.  Here is the link if you want to read more.
There are seven episodes in this series, and it is a pretty good yet weird watch.

Movies That I Recently Watched

For October, I decided to watch a couple of scary movies.  I started out with "It" by Stephen King.  Here is a description of the movie...
"Seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, are about to face their worst nightmare -- an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town's children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise."

It is a good movie.  The genre is Horror, Mystery, and Thriller. I enjoyed the child actors.  The clown is horrifying.  Be aware this is not a kid's movie.  It is scary, with lots of cussing, hints of incest, abuse, crude joking by the young boys, and violence.  As far as a horror movie, it is a good one. I would give it a 10 on my horror scale.

How could I not go on and watch the second movie?  It is called "It Chapter Two."  Here is the description...

Because every 27 years, evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, “IT Chapter Two” brings the characters back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.

It is good also.  I did not give it as high a score as the first movie, but I had to know what happened.  Many of the reviews complained about the flashbacks to the first movie.  I liked the flashbacks because I liked the kids, so for me, that was a plus.  Again it is not a movie for kids.

Caleb and maggie spent the weekend with me.  They wanted to watch a movie that they really enjoyed it is called The School for Good and Evil, which is on Netflix.  The genre is action, fantasy, and drama.  The rating is PG13.  I enjoyed this movie.  They leave it open for a sequel, but that is totally in Netflix's hands now, and from what I could find, they have not decided to do one yet.  They should because I want to hear the rest of the story!

In the village of Gavaldon, two misfits and best friends, Sophie and Agatha, share the unlikeliest of bonds. Sophie, a lover of fairy tales, dreams of escaping her ordinary village life, while Agatha, with her grim aesthetic, has the makings of a real witch. Then one night under a blood red moon, a powerful force sweeps them away to the School for Good and Evil -- where the true story of every great fairy tale begins. Yet something is amiss from the start: Sophie is dropped into the School for Evil, run by the glamourous and acid-tongued Lady Lesso and Agatha in the School for Good, overseen by the sunny and kind Professor Dovey. As if navigating classes with the offspring of Cinderella, Captain Hook, and the dashing son of King Arthur wasn't hard enough, according to the Schoolmaster, only true love's kiss can change the rules and send the girls to their rightful school. But when a dark and dangerous figure with mysterious ties to Sophie reemerges and threatens to destroy the school and the rulebook entirely -- the only way to a happy ending is to survive the fairytale first.
