Journal Prompt for November-A Thanksgiving Journal Prompt. Describe Thanksgiving in Your Childhood Home

Image
Here we are entering the holiday season.  That got me thinking of my childhood Thanksgiving with my family.  So the journal prompt for November is "Describe Thanksgiving in Your Childhood Home." As a kid, every year, I was excited and looked forward to our Thanksgiving celebration. For one thing, we had several days away from school, which was always a plus. Usually, two to three days before the big day, Uncle Leslie and Aunt Charlotte would appear. This would mean I would have to give up my bed for the floor, but that was ok because they were family members I adored. Preparation for our Thanksgiving Dinner began several days in advance of the holiday. Mom always made a pumpkin pie and a sweet potato casserole, and Aunt Charlotte made her onion-heavy cole slaw which I learned, over the years, to look forward to. One of my favorite foods on our thanksgiving dinner table was stuffing. Mom made a wonderful bread stuffing. I remember the loaves of bread, butter, onions, cel...

Quote of the Month by Carlos Santana on Joy and Healing.

Image
I love this quote by Carlos Santana on healing and joy. I agree that no matter how much you have been hurt, you can heal if you hold onto joy.  It may take an effort, but the joy that is deep in your heart will slowly heal any wounds. God Bless! KathieyV

Faith,"When God Ran" The Prodigal Son

Image
I love the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32. Why? Because it is an example of God's abundant Grace on which I lean so heavily. It is a picture of God's love for us, for me. In church yesterday, the Pastor spoke of how the son in this parable had turned his back on his father. How he squandered all he had given him, and how he became desperate without his father in his life. How he then returned to his father and was lovingly accepted back into his father's house because he was so loved. And even though the son did not deserve it, his father forgave all his foolishness, and the slate was wiped clean. Years ago, there was a song that I would listen to that would bring tears to my eyes each time I heard it. It is a song by Benny Hester called "When God Ran."  "And the only time,   the only time I ever saw Him run   Was when   He ran to me,   Took me in His arms, held my head to His chest   And said "My son's come home again."   Look...
