Entertainment Wrap-Up for June 25, 2022; Books, Movies, and More

Image
A lot is going  on in the entertainment area as far as books, music, TV, and movies.   Here is what I have been watching and listening to lately.  The YouTube Version What am I reading?   I am listening to Bellevue and reading a physical book called Fable.   I find Bellevue to be fascinating. Fable is a young adult novel about pirates and adventure. Fable is a 17-year-old girl. She was raised on the sea with her mother and father. In an awful twist of fate, a storm arises that sinks their ship. Her mother dies, and she is left with her father, who abandons her on a dangerous island with thieves and very little food. So far, it is pretty good. I am on page 48. Bellevue is a non-fiction book about the facility in New York called Bellevue. In this book, you learn the history of the facility and some of New York's history, mainly concerning medicine and past diseases and their effects on the city.   I found the story of George Washington to be interesting...

Fashion- What the Heck is Dopamine Fashion?

Image
I have heard the term "Dopamine Fashion" thrown around, and I decided to find out what it is.  Let's head off to Google... First off, why would we even want to stimulate dopamine in our bodies? I found the answer on a site called Into Action Recovery Centers .  Here is what they said... "In addition to our mood, dopamine also affects movement, memory, and focus. Healthy levels of dopamine drive us to seek and repeat pleasurable activities, while low levels can have an adverse physical and psychological impact. When the brain has a healthy level of dopamine, we feel good. Our motivation increases." This all sounds very helpful in boosting our mood and focus, so let's find out how to accomplish this with fashion. My initial thoughts on Dopamine Fashion had me thinking it was all about bright colors in your style statement.  I believed that the burst in dopamine to boost our mood was from the colors. It seems that is only part of it.  In a nutshell, it appear...

Sunday Shopping Let's Look For Amazon Sunglasses

Image
It is time to go Sunday Shopping.  I have one pair of sunglasses that I use for every occasion.  It would be nice to own a pair of stylish sunglasses and maybe even a pair of designer sunglasses, I have heard Michael Kors and Ray-Ban are good brands.  Maybe even sunglasses in different colors would be nice.  With this in mind let's head over to look for Amazon sunglasses to see what we can find. (I am an Amazon Affiliate.  If you buy anything on Amazon using my links, I get a percent of the sale with no added cost to you.  Thank You!) 1- Ray-Ban Rb4194 Square Sunglasses  Wow Ray-Bans are not what I would call one of the affordable options.  This is one with a lower price tag.  The thing I don't like about them is that their name is posted on the lense. 2- Michael Kors MK 1077 110813 Rose Gold/Camila Transpar  I thought I would select a Michael Kors option that appears to be in the category of stylish sunglasses. 3- Carfia Bi...

Wine Wednesday-What is Port Wine

Image
For Wine Wednesday this week, I thought I would take a look at Port Wines.   What is Port Wine? Recently I bought a white port at a local vineyard.  It was super sweet and rather tasty.  I found I needed to sip it rather than drinking it the way I enjoy my white wines. This wine lasted me a long time because it takes a while to sip a bottle of port. I later read that if an opened bottle of port is kept in a cool dark place, it can last 4-6 weeks.  Fast forward many months, and I decided to open another bottle of Port.  Much to my dismay, I did not like it, and it is going down the drain.  My untrained palate could only recognize the overwhelming flavor of almonds, and I did not like it. Port is a fortified wine. It is sweeter and higher in alcohol content than your standard wines.  It is higher in alcohol because of the added Brandy.  Below is a definition of port wine I found on Leaf TV. "During fermentation, the producer adds brandy to the wine....

Tuesday Travel-Lunch in Apex NC Anna's Pizzeria

Image
I was trying to decide where to eat lunch on my visit to Apex, NC.  As I was strolling downtown, I came across Anna's Pizzeria and thought this sounded like a great lunch spot. Here is a quote from the website... "Although Anna’s Pizzeria was established in 1986, our story begins many, many years ago when owner, Yury Rojas, was just a toddler. His Aunt Anna, who was orginally from Italy, helped Yury’s family move to America." Here is a quote from the site... "Anna’s Pizzeria is a busy, family-friendly restaurant serving up authentic New York style pizzas and Italian dishes. There are currently two North Carolina restaurants – Apex and Fuquay-Varina – both located in charming, historic downtown locations." They provide seating both inside and outside. What did I order?  Pizza, of course.  The pizza was cheesy and delicious. There are many food options on the menu; check out their menu here. They also offer beer and wine, which is always a plus. It appears they s...
