Wine and Food Adventures-Let's Check out Fireclay Cellars in Siler City North Carolina

Join me for a visit to Fireclay Cellars Vineyard &Winery in Siler City NC

There are about 200 wineries and 400-500+ vineyards in North Carolina, according to the internet.

Karen and I thought it would be fun to check out one that is not too far from our location in the Cary Apex area.  So off we went to Fireclay Cellars Vineyard & Winery in Siler City, NC.
Getting to the winery was an easy shot on 64 west. The drive took about 40 minutes.

(Quotes from their website will be in quotes and italics.)
We drove up to a lovely house on the property with plenty of parking.
According to their website, here is how they decided on the name of their vineyard.

"Our name, FireClay Cellars, was chosen to represent the bright red clay in our vineyard. Mineral-rich, deep, and well-drained soil provide the perfect conditions for producing flavorful grapes".

Here is what they have to say about their history...

Farming and grape growing were always an essential part of our family roots. This tradition continued when we discovered land for growing healthy vines in 2010.

Time for the tasting...Happy Day!!!

Here is how the wine tasting works
"Come visit our tasting room, wine-making facility, and vineyard. We are doing wine tastings for 10$ (21 and older). This includes 4 wines, 2 oz pour of each, of your choice".

I selected two white wines and two Rose wines. Karen decided to select four red wines.
Check out the link below to learn about Fireclays wines.

When you visit, you will find plenty of seating both inside and out.  Outside there are seats on the porch and scattered picnic tables on the property.  Inside there are several seating areas that are comfortable and inviting.

"You are welcome to bring any outside food! We do serve local Celebrity Dairy Goat Cheese, hummus, sparkling water, crackers, chocolate and other packaged foods for purchase. We encourage picnics! We can also schedule/reserve pot-luck events in our loft area during or after tasting room hours depending on the group size."

Karen and I walked part of the property.  We were greeted by some vocal guinea hens and a couple of ducks.

Beside the property is a farm called Wee Dreams Farm and Gardens.  I had to snap a photo of this lovely turkey who was being protected by this intense dog.

What a fun visit to Fireclay Cellars.  If you have the opportunity, I suggest you check them out.
Here is a link to their location and hours of operation.

Next week's wine post will include a bit more about their wine,
and I will tell you which wine I decided to buy.

Happy Travels and Wine Tastings!
