Let's say A Toast to North Carolina-My Home State

I was browsing North Carolina on my computer and found a Toast written to my state.   There is no indication as to who wrote the toast, which I found on DennyDavis.net.  I think North Carolina is a beautiful state.  There is such variety here.  You have the mountains in the west and ocean to our east and a ton of things in between. There is so much to enjoy and discover.  There are wineries, museums, and marvelous hiking trails.  With that in mind, I, too, will say a toast to my home state of NC.

North Carolina Toast

"Here's to the land of the longleaf pine,

The summer land where the sun doth shine.

Where the weak grow strong and the strong grow great,

Here's to "Down Home," the Old North State."

    I love that toast. We had to learn it in 8th grade, and I've always remembered it.

Places-Hiking A Linville Falls Trail in North Carolina.

I honestly can't tell you the name of the trail that Erica and took on our hike.  You go to the Linville Falls Visitors Center,  turn left, and take the path down.  After doing a bit of research, I think it is the Linville Falls Plunge Basin Trail.  It is a more challenging trail then the hike to the right of the visitor center, although that one is lovely. I have done this hike a couple of times.  Always fun.  Just in case it is Linville Falls Plunge Basin Trail here is some info on that hike found on  Asheville Trails Linville Falls Plunge Basin Trail "The hike departs from the Linville Falls visitor center, located off the Blue Ridge Parkway at MP 316 ( view maps and driving directions ), hanging a left in front of the visitor center. A Visit to Burntshirt Vineyards in Hendersonville NC

My visit to Bruntshirt Vineyard was several years ago.  I visited the one in Hendrsonville, NC; there is also a bistro and tasting room in Chimney Rock, NC.  I was just on their site to make sure it is still open during this Covid Pandemic, and it is.  Both sites are open and hosting events.  I wish they were closer to Cary, NC; if they were, I would visit today.  Let's go back to the past and visit Burntshirt Vineyards... It was the final day of my mini-vacation.  I had climbed the stairs to the top of Chimney Rock, I had pontooned beautiful Lake Lure, and I had stayed at the lovely Esmeralda Inn.  Anytime I take a trip, I do my best to visit a local winery, and I had been remiss in my tradition on this trip.   I could just go home, but that would be crazy if there were a local winery to explore.
