Travel-Near North Carolina, Danville Va the New Temporary Caesars Virginia Casino

Image
What? There is a casino in Danville, Va., and it is only about an hour and a half away...let's check it out. What do I know about gambling? Truth be told, I know very little.   My gambling experience consists of two things. We would play blackjack as kids, and our currency consisted of toothpicks. The other gambling adventure I had was in Vegas. I was there for a work conference, and one night, a few other nurses and I decided to hit the Vegas Strip. I found myself in this vast Casino playing the penny slots. I soon became bored and went to the bar for a drink instead. Let's remember also I did play the lottery once or twice, but with no wins to brag about. Yes, a Casino is indeed coming to Danville, VA, in 2024. It will be called Caesars, Virginia.   Caesars Virginia is slated to open in 2024. This Casino will consist of 500 room hotel, 1300 slot machines, 24 live table games, 24 electronic table games, a poker room, and a Caesars Sportsbook. There will be a spa, b...

Monthly Motivation-"You is Kind, You is Loved, You is Important" The Help

Image
Monthly Motivation for June of 2023. I had recently finished the book "The Help"  When I found out there was a movie, I could not wait to see it. There were many times in the movie I found myself angry at the injustice and other times touched by the tenderness. The love in the quote repeatedly spoken by Aibileen to the little girl in her care touched my heart. "You is kind. You is smart. You is important"  Words we all need to hear when we are little and continue to need to hear as we age.  They are words of encouragement, support, and love.  In our humanness, we sometimes fail to encourage others with words they may desperately need to hear.  Sometimes we fail to give the hugs, the support, the time that we could share with others.  We get caught up in life and its problems, its busyness.   In the times when we feel alone, when we feel unimportant or feel downright stupid, we need to remember that is not how God feels.  To God, we are...

Wine Wednesday-What The Heck is the Point System for Wine?

Image
It is time for Wine Wednesday.  Today I want to talk about Wine Points.  I had never heard of wine points until I was invited to a wine party.  Everyone has to bring a bottle to share.  The bottle has to be rated 85 points or above.  Having never heard of such a point system, I decided I needed to do my research before the event.  So What the Heck is the Wine Point System? The wine rating system is a grading process.  This rating is based on opinion, so it is an subjective grade.  Market View Liquor states that these scores are basically "a point of reference and not an official decree." Who makes the determination on the rating of a bottle of wine?  There are usually three groups Professional Wine Critics, Wine Competitions, and Wine Bloggers. The wine score is based on various criteria such as Appearance, Consistency, Nose, Taste, Complexity, Varietal Representation, and Room for Improvement.  More can be found on this at Market View L...

Words-Words of Inspiration by Carl Jung

Image
Each week I hope to share a quote with you.  Some will be inspirational, some heartfelt, some deep,  but all will give you something to think about. All of us will experience trauma on some level in our lives.  It may be physical, emotional, or both, but either way, we can come out on the other side of such trauma.   I agree with the quote by Carl Jung, for the most part.  I guess it depends on how much damage has been done as to how fast and if we can "choose" what we become.  That being said, I think no matter what the pain in our life has been that we need to fight for what we "choose to become" and what we can become...hopefully we can become our best selves in lieu of our circumstances. For some, after a major trauma, it will take baby steps.  Just the choice to take that baby step can lead us closer to what we want to become.  In a sense, we are, at least in part, what happened to us.  We have been damaged in some way, which has changed...

There were many vendors at the event.  I loved the wooden Santas.  The intricate detail is impressive. Below are the goals as listed on their website... Triangle Russian Festival Goals 1 To introduce Russian culture to the general public, and to promote the understanding of the unique      cultural and ethnic heritage of the country. 2 To unite the Slavic, and the Central and Western Asian communities in the Triangle Area.  3 To reinforce Russian-identity among the Russian population in the Triangle Area.                                We  decided to eat at a small food table in the main hallway of the venu...
