Where the Music Meets the Menu: A Review of Abbey Road Tavern & Grill

Abbey Road Tavern & Grill, Apex NC: A Review

If you are looking for a place that feels like a good time the moment you walk in, Abbey Road Tavern & Grill in Apex, NC might just be your spot.

The Atmosphere

From the moment you step inside, the vibe is unmistakably rock and roll. The walls are covered in memorabilia, think vintage posters and guitars, giving the space a personality that is all its own. It is casual, fun, and full of character. When we visited during the lunch hour, the place was packed, and yes, it was loud. But it was the kind of loud that feels alive, not overwhelming. The energy in the room just adds to the experience.

The space itself is well kept and clean, with a nice bar area that offers both bar seating and tables. Whether you want to pull up a stool or settle into a table, there is a comfortable spot for everyone.

The Service

We were greeted right away by someone warm and welcoming. A smile and a smooth introduction to our seats set a great tone for the visit. The wait staff was professional, friendly, and dressed casually, which fit the atmosphere perfectly. Nothing felt stiff or out of place.

The Location

Abbey Road Tavern & Grill in Apex is located at 1700 Center Street, tucked away from the main street, which means parking is easy and stress free. For anyone who has circled a busy lot one too many times before a meal, that is worth mentioning. The restaurant is open Monday through Sunday starting at 11:00 am, making it a great option for lunch or dinner any day of the week.

The Menu

The menu at Abbey Road is anything but boring. It is a wide and well thought out spread that has something for everyone. Appetizers range from Jalapeño Poppers and Mozzarella Sticks to Loaded Nachos and Potato Skins. The sandwich and burger lineup is impressive, with creative options like the Peach Floyd (grilled chicken in a house made ginger peach sauce with pickled cucumbers and toasted sesame seeds) and the Burnin’ Down the House burger (fried jalapeños, pepperjack, and chipotle aioli). There are also wraps, pitas, fish dishes, and comfort classics throughout. Sides include everything from fries and onion rings to pasta salad and fried okra. And if you save room, they have Lava Cake and Key Lime for dessert.

The Food

We started with the Jalapeño Poppers, five of them, made fresh in house with cream cheese and deep fried in panko bread crumbs, served with ranch for $9.25. I had never tried Jalapeño Poppers before and decided to be adventurous. I am so glad I did. The jalapeños were slightly spicy with a wonderfully creamy cheese filling and a cool ranch dipping sauce that balanced everything out perfectly. They were delicious and I would absolutely order them again.

For my main course I chose the Guacamole Shrimp Pita, grilled shrimp with guacamole, red and green cabbage slaw, sriracha sour cream, cilantro, and a lime wedge on a warm grilled pita for $13.50. Shrimp and guacamole are two of my favorites so I had a feeling this would be a winner, and it absolutely was. The flavors worked so well together and the pita was the perfect vessel for all of it. I also had a side of pasta salad which was a lovely complement to the meal.

My dining companion Rocky went with the Fish & Chips, hand-breaded haddock served with coleslaw, hushpuppies, and tartar sauce for $17.50. Let’s just say he did not leave much on the plate. He enjoyed it so much that he told our waitress on the way out that we would be coming back, and I think that says everything.

Final Thoughts

Abbey Road Tavern & Grill is a winner. Great food, friendly service, an easy location with no parking headaches, and an atmosphere that just makes you want to stay a little longer. They also feature live music regularly, and I have a feeling the experience at night with a band playing is something special. That is definitely on my list for our next visit.

If you are in the Apex area and looking for a fun, casual spot with food that delivers, give Abbey Road a try. You will not be disappointed.

Get out and try a new restaurant!
