Tasting Argentina’s New Age Rosé — Kathiey’s Review
Being relatively new to the world of wine, I realize there’s so much to learn about the art of wine tasting. I’ve visited a few wine shops and wineries for tastings, but I hadn’t really been taught the proper steps involved. So, I took matters into my own hands and Googled “how to taste wine.” With endless information out there, I decided to keep it simple—for now.
Based on the basic wine tasting tips I found, I realized I needed to focus on key elements like the wine’s clarity, color, aroma, flavor, and finish.
The wine I chose from our local shop was New Age Rosé from Argentina—a perfect pick for my first real wine tasting experience.
Overall, I found this wine to be really tasty with a light, pleasant sweetness. I think it would be perfect served chilled or over ice. Someone at the wine shop recommended adding fresh berries to the glass, which sounds like a lovely idea. I would definitely buy this wine again—very nice!

Sitting down at my computer with a glass in hand and guided by a “How To” wine tasting site, I began my tasting journey. I carefully noted all my observations, then consulted expert wine reviews to compare their findings with mine. I’ll share my impressions first, followed by the experts’ notes in parentheses.
Clarity and Color- A lovely blush or rosé hue with a clear appearance (experts note purple-red and violet undertones).
Aroma-I sensed berries of an unknown variety, while experts specifically identified (raspberries) I realize I could be more precise in my descriptions.
Taste-My palate picked up sweet, berry, tart, and citrus notes (experts mention sugar, red fruits, and violet flowers), I have never tasted violet flowers so how was I supposed to know that? 😊
The Finish-I described the finish as fruity and light-bodied, while experts noted an (effervescent quality)—it was a bit bubbly, come to think of it.

So, how do I feel about my attempt at wine tasting? Overall, I think I did pretty well—I correctly picked up on the berry notes and agreed with the pros that the wine was sweet. I know there’s still a lot to learn and plenty of skills to develop, but I’m excited to keep honing my wine tasting abilities. It’s a journey I’m eager to continue, and I have a feeling it’s going to be a lot of fun along the way!
Get out there and try something new—enjoy your world, everyone! 😊

ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with your "first serious attempt" at describing wine. Just keep on trying, it does get easier. try this wine on the rocks with a slice of orange. Yes, you can put ice in your wine! It's how it is done in Argentina! Google it if you don't believe mw.
