" Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,  the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,   who comforts us  in all our troubles, so that we can comfort    those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God".    2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Have you ever really looked at an apple tree?  I guess some apple trees stand straight and tall.  But I am drawn to the apple trees that are crooked and bent, the ones that appear broken.  It is surprising to me that a tree that looks so damaged can produce such beautiful fruit thus making the tree itself complete. I can't help but compare these crooked trees to our lives.  There are so many ways we can become damaged in this life. The causes of pain and confusion are endless.  As we deal with difficulty, it may appear at times that we don't have the strength to go on.   Luckily we have God who walks beside us in our times of most profound need.  Through...

The only reason I took the time to read To Kill a Mockingbird is because I joined a monthly book subscription called Coffee and a Classic.  What fun! Here is my review along with photos of the items that came in my Coffee and Classic Book Box. To Kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee This 336-page book written in 1960 by Harper Lee can be found under many possible genres, a few of which are Classic, Southern Gothic, Courtroom Drama, and Historical Fiction. The story setting is during the time of the Great Depression in the small town of Macomb Alabama. It did not take me long to get swept into the story.  I fell in love with the Finch family.  Atticus, his kids' Scout, and Jem, and their friend Dill, and all the fantastic characters that were part of their lives. (Pillow cover that came in the box.  Not sure where the cat comes in although a story about cats is read in a classroom.  I am sure the cat would like to kill the mockingbird but we all know "i...

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run  with perseverance  the race marked out for us,     fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer  and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross,  scorning its shame,  and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.     Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary  and lose heart. (Caleb and Nana:-) If there is anything that is causing you to "grow weary and lose heart" give it to God and let him handle it.  I believe, if we hold onto God and his word,  that he will direct our path and help us down the road that we are supposed to follow.      Never forget God's Promise "I will never leave you or forsake you" Thanks you God! This is an extremely easy fall floral arrangement. I saw a video on Youtube that displayed this simple fall arrangement. I wish I could find the video:-( I went to the local Hobby Lobby. First I found the container I wanted. Then I took a stroll through the floral department and found my flowers. I would never have thought of using this black and white houndstooth ribbon but that was in the video showed and thought I would give it a try. I love the combination. This is what you need: *A Container *Flowers or what ever you would like to fill the container. *Ribbon *Wire Cutters If you decide to make one I would love to see your finished product. Happy Home Decorating and Crafting! KathieyV:-)

Hagar in the book of Genesis did not have it easy.     But even with difficulty in her life, she recognized God as "the God who sees me."    Help us, God, to realize you see us too.  In pain, in joy and everything in-between thank you God for being the God who sees, understands us and guides us. Amen KathieyV

Travel Articles I love the fall, and here in NC the weather is finally changing, and it is beginning to feel like autumn. Happy Day! So in staying in sync with the season, I found a pumpkin event I would love to attend.     I think it is called the Jack O' Lantern Experience and it is in Concord NC. Are you decorating pumpkins for Halloween? Do you know the most "Serene Spot" in your state? Well I have not idea where this spot is in my state but PureWow has it figured out in this article titled "The Most Serene Spot in Every Single State" The location for my state of NC is Craggy Gardens. I will have to put this on my list of places to visit! When I saw the title of this article "No One Orders Hotel Room Service Anymore-Here's Why" I thought to myself "But I love room service." I don't get to fly as much as I would like but even so when I do fly I do not want to annoy my flight attendant.  This a...
