Side Effects of an Unwanted Divorce "Frozen" by KathieyV

This poem can be found in my book, "My Story My Divorce God's Promise; The Beginning" (Below is an affiliate link to Amazon where you can read more about my book:-)                                                              Review of my book by Maggie can be found on Amazon "Fantastic book! I picked up the book to read the beginning, and didn't put it down until I had read it all. It's deep. Rather than an a point-by-point account, this author probes the depths of her soul, and carries you on a spiritual journey. Wonderful encouragement for people going through divorce, or any shockingly painful interruption to their life."

Quote From a Wise Man from North Carolina The Rev. Billy Graham

Leaving behind a legacy of character and faith is a beautiful gift.  Putting others before yourself, being a person of integrity,  keeping promises and leading families in faith.  I believe this is what God would like to see in his followers. What a beautiful example to leave for your children and grandchildren.  This type of character is out there, but I do believe it is rare, at least based on my experience.  What we can do is trust God and ask him to heal the wounds left behind by someone who does not feel the importance of character and faith in their lives. Some of us do not have examples of character and faith in our past or our present.   I sadly did not see this principle displayed when I was growing up or in my married life.  Those of us who do not have this gift of a Godly example can look to Jesus as our example.   God keeps his promises and loves us dearly. "The righteous who walks in his integrity- blessed are his children after him." Proverbs 20:7 T

Morning Motivation: "It is Well With My Soul"

The book of Job was the topic of discussion in church yesterday.  I knew about Job and his suffering and his faith in God, but I must admit I was not aware of the extent of his misery.  I did not realize he lost all of his possessions and his children in one day.  I did not recall his physical suffering and the betrayal of his friends and his wife.  How can one man endure all of that suffering?  His strong faith in God was what got him through all of the many traumas in his life. The pastor went on to share the backstory of the song "It is Well With My Soul."  The man that wrote this song had endured heart-wrenching tragedy.  "It is Well With My Soul" As I was thinking about this song, I could not help but think of a tragedy that occurred just this week in a nearby neighborhood.  A young woman committed suicide.  I can't imagine the emotional pain this young woman was in, only God can and does understand, and I believe loves her.  I too can't im

Morning Motivation Enjoy the Moment-A Blast From the Past

Image
We had a guest speaker in church yesterday. His name is Jason Petty, and he is a Christian rapper from Calif. He spoke briefly, it was more like reading or sharing of a poem or a story. Here is what I took from what he shared with us. "You can't see past the explosions" in your life.  For me, that meant we tend to focus on life's difficulties.  We tend to look at our past and the what if's.  In the now we tend to focus on the potential "explosions," to come thus wasting the good times worrying about the future. I think the speaker was trying to tell us to focus on the present, the now, the moment, so that we can enjoy life.  So that is what I did.  I went home and enjoyed the moment. Making ginger bread cookies with my family... I enjoyed running the tobacco trail and then I enjoyed cooking a nice dinner for my family I enjoyed Caleb.. I enjoyed Stephanie, Josh, Caleb, Brodie.  I enjoyed speaking with Erica on the phone.   I

Stress Relief; Exercise

Image
(That is me on the far right:-) When my husband first left me I did sink into despair and depression.  I don't know how I was able, but I continued to exercise. I would jog with my dog when I felt like going to bed and curling up in the fetal position. After work I would attend Gabby's Zumba classes when all I wanted to do was go home and cry. Gabby will  never know how much she helped me. Even though I was in a mental fog, I was still able to keep moving. Maybe somehow in the back of my mind, I realized I needed this physical activity to help me survive this trauma.   Fast forward five years.  I am still taking Zumba classes and now my instructors are Marissa and Tracey, and I adore them as I do Gabby.  I also take long walks with Brodie and do other types of exercise at a local gym.  For me, exercise helps me to keep my mind and body in better shape. Here is a quote from the Anxiety and Depression Association of America... "The physical benefits of exerci

Morning Motivation GPS-God's Piloting Spirit

Most of us have experienced both joy and pain in our lives.  Some of us have also experienced times of uncertainty and indecision.  (In my case, these feelings were brought on by an unwanted divorce.)  I believe in all of life's ups and downs that God wants to be our guide.  He wants to show us the way we should go. I don't know about you, but I use my GPS whenever I am headed into new territory.  When I am on a road I have never traveled, I lean on the knowledge of my GPS .  (Do I trust my GPS completely?  No. Did you see "The Office" episode where Michael Scott drove his car into a pond because listened to his GPS?:-) There can be so many distractions out on the road, so many things to take us off course.  On a driving journey, we could face traffic jams and detours, or it could be raining and difficult to see.  It is nice to hear the GPS voice telling us when we need to prepare for an upcoming turn or if we do make a wrong turn, the GPS tells us it is recalcula
