 Whenever I visit a new town, I look for wineries or wine in local stores to enjoy. I found this outstanding wine and beer shop in Apex called Bottle Theory.   Bottle Theory has a large variety of wines and also a wide variety of craft beer. I am not a beer person, but I love wine.  I don't know much about wine, but luckily, they have an extremely knowledgeable staff that could point me in the right direction. Bottle Theory has an extensive events page where there seems to be something going on every day. They have food trucks, beer tastings, wine tastings, and the list goes on. I can't put myself in the category of wine connoisseurs, but I love to go into wine shops and peruse the wine bottles on the shelves. Here there are plenty of bottles to study. I love that you can go on their site and see what is on tap and what is on the shelves. As far as the wine,  on their site, you can read about each one, and they also mention food pairings which I think is wonderful....

You may ask, "Where can I find a nice wine bar in Apex, NC?"  Well, I have the answer: Peak of the Vine in downtown Apex. I have visited Peak of the Vine several times, and it is always a wonderful experience. It is one of the best wine bars I have had the privilege to visit. Here was my drink of the evening.  I had a glass, and then I bought a bottle. Here is a description from their website...  It is Wine Wednesday.  Let's visit a winery tasting room in Chimney Rock, NC. Last week I was with my daughter and her family in the Asheville area of North Carolina.  You know my motto "You must visit a winery in every town."  We visited a winery, not in Asheville but Chimney Rock, a short drive from the Asheville area.  We went to Burntshirt Vineyards Tasting Room and Bistro. Several years ago, I stayed in Chimney Rock, and at the time, they were in the process of constructing this building.  So I went to the Burntshirt Vineyards in Hendersonville, NC . As we drove up to the Tasting Room and Bistro, I was impressed with the facility. It is beautiful. Here is a quote from the website...  I am headed to Asheville this week.  A friend of my daughters suggested two wineries to visit while we are there.  My motto is "You Must Visit A Winery in Every Town", or a wine shop. Let's take a look at two suggested wineries in Asheville NC... Two wineries were suggested for my visit to Asheville this week.   The first is called Marked Tree .  This vineyard is in Flat Rock NC which is over 30 miles from Asheville.  The good news is that there is a tasting room in Asheville.  I have to keep in mind that we are traveling with two small children so the tasting room would probably be the best option for us. The second one recommended is Point Lookout Vineyards which according to Google is an hour or so drive from Asheville.  I have already visited this one and here is my post on the experience. It's Wine Wednesday.  Let's visit a local winery.   Tunnel Creek Vineyards in Roxboro, NC. Here is a quote from their website... "Imagine a place where serenity meets exhilaration, modesty meets magnificence, and exclusivity meets affordability." It is about an hour and twenty-minute drive from where I live in West Cary.  I like to drive, especially in the country, so the trip was a joy. Let's head in for a tasting... It was going to be an exciting day, and I could not wait to get started.  I was headed out with a group of wine tasting buddies to a couple of vineyards and wine stores in the great state of North Carolina.
