I tried a new wine last week.  The one I tried was by 4 Estaciones, and it was a Viognier.  Let's see the results of my tasting. The tasting is based on my limited abilities... Appearance The wine is pale yellow with no bubbles or sediment. The Scent I would say acidic and fruity. Taste Very sour and acidic.  I would say a sour lemon taste. Re-tasting with the experts from the Wine Cellar "Yellow tones with fine hue, intense with apricot, citrus, and tropical fruits. A refreshing wine with creaminess and an elegant persistent finish." I agree it is yellow. As far as the fruit tastes, I can only identify citrus; although I smell something else that I can't identify.  It did have a persistent finish that I did not like. Vivino says it tastes like... I would agree that it is bold in flavor and leans a tad toward sweet.  I would disagree and say it is more acidic than soft.   I found this wine very acidic to point of discomfort.  I read that an acidic win...

I was looking for area events and came across a wine tasting.  This wine tasting was free and held at The Wine Cellar Outlet in Raleigh, NC.   I decided to go. Here is how they describe themselves on their Facebook page "Boutique wine shop, specializing in wines at discounted prices.  We provide a passionate, fresh and relaxed environment in which to browse (and taste!) boutique style, small batch and high quality wines at an outstanding value!" I had not heard of them, so I was surprised they had been in Raleigh since 2011.  Their shop was easy to find, and there was plenty of parking.  I headed into the wine store.  They had wines from all over the world.   The wine tasting was fun... All of their wine is discounted, so you can save a lot of money trying new wines.  I did buy 3 bottles of wine from the "cellar select" category, and I can't wait to try them. I now follow them on Facebook, and I get text messages when they have something to share...

It is wine Wednesday, and high time to share a wine tasting with a food pairing.  I am in a wine club called Naked Wines.  This club has wines from all over the world, and it is always an adventure to try a new wine. I am going to do my amateur tasting using the plan from my recent posts called My Basic Wine Tasting Technique.  After I have tasted and have given my opinion, I will look on the wine site to get the story of the wine from the experts.  It will be interesting to see if I get anything right. The Wine Sacchetto delle Venezie  Pinot Grigio 2020 Italian Wine and the winemaker is Paolo Sacchetto The grapes were grown at the foot of the Italian Alps.     Wine Tasting Visual-The color was pale yellow, and it was a clear wine. On occasion, I attempt a wine tasting. Why do I say attempt? It is because I have no idea how to do an official tasting. There is no time like the present to attempt a wine tasting, so here goes. I had come across an article about Rodney Strong wines, so I decided to do a tasting on their 2019 Chardonnay. I found in my research that you should look at and describe how the wine appears as well as the scent and the taste of the wine. A bit of history on Rodney Strong ... "Our story begins in 1959, when Rodney Strong envisioned Sonoma County as a special place for producing wine. A true pioneer in Sonoma County, Rodney Strong led the way for the future of Sonoma County winemaking. Rodney Strong Vineyards was the 13th winery bonded in the newly discovered Sonoma County wine industry." My Wine Tasting Color and Clarity  - Clear, pale yellow in color.  I recently published a recipe with wine titled Recipe Review White Chicken Chili with a Wine Pairing .  The wine I paired with the Chili was Arabella Sauvignon Blanc, and I found that I really enjoyed the wine. I decided to do a little research on this wine, and here is what I found.  Arabella is produced in South Africa.  The wine is described as "Green and Flinty." Here is how I found Green and Flinty described on Wine-Searcher "A cool, citrus minerality. From the limestone character of Sancerre to the green, herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc of Marlborough, this style often shows off cut grass and wet stone." The description above would not lead me to want to try this wine.  The appeal of tasting wet stone and cut grass does not entice me. Despite the description, I loved this wine.
