  I love this quote by Madam C J Walker, and it is so appropriate not only to those of us going through a divorce but for anyone. In the case of divorce, your life is upended, and you don't know where to turn or what to do.  Many of us feel we should hide away and wait for opportunities to change or enhance our lives.  Unfortunately, that usually does not happen.  Many times if we want opportunities, we have to make them. I believe there are times when we need to wait.  Wait for the right moment, or wait until we are more prepared.  But we should not always wait.  The old saying "good things come to those who wait" I don't always believe.  I think we have to make things happen. If you want a new job, you don't wait for the job to come to you.  You search the want ads, obtain the proper education in your area of interest, and then seek out what you want.  If you only waited and took no action, there would more than likely be no job.   I think we have to take the in

 I have always liked pelicans.  As a child, I would go with my family to Florida.  I would search out the window for two things on our trip.  I would look for palm trees and pelicans. I would get so excited when I would see either.  So, the big question is... Are there pelicans in North Carolina?? Yes, there are Pelicans in North Carolina, according to NC Audubon .  Here is a quote from their site. In North Carolina, Brown Pelicans are found in coastal marine and estuarine waters. Guess what?  It is time for our monthly journal prompt.  Get out your journal or your computer and answer the question.  This is a fun and easy question . If you could go to lunch with a celebrity, who would it be, and why did you choose this person to spend time with? There are not many celebrities that I would care to have a meal with.  I do not follow the tabloids, and I don’t see celebrities as anything but people who can act.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy their craft…I love TV and Movies and plays, but that does not, in my opinion, make them any better as people than anyone else, so I do not idolize them. If I had to choose a celebrity to spend time with, I know who it would be.  I have given the same answer for years.  It would be Mike Rowe.  I would choose Mike because he seems like a regular guy.  His show Dirty Jobs had him dealing with everyday people, and he gets down and dirty with them in their jobs.  He took the time to get to know the regular guy, and it was not all abo

Here is an easy picnic-style meal that I really enjoyed.  It is quick and easy, and delicious. Rather than cooking one evening, visit your local grocery store and put together this delicious  Picnic Style Meal-Pick a Picnic I love Taste of Home Magazine; it contains many recipes and ideas.   I remember looking through the June/July issue and seeing a lovely picnic spread.   It had been a hectic day, and I had no time to cook, so I put together an indoor picnic tray.  I went to Harris Teeter to mimic the Taste of Home version of the picnic goodies.  Here is what I came up with… Fruited Chicken Salad…Yum Cherry Tomatoes Pita Bread and Hummus Cucumbers Peaches Poppy Seed Dressing….Next time I would go with Ranch Dressing or Lite Sweet Vidalia Onion Dressing by Paul Newman-So good!   Marital separation and divorce are ranked just under the death of a child as the most stressful experiences. With this in mind, I always seek ways to decrease stress.  Lately, I have been reading about stress relief and travel. Let's Take a Trip Travel can cause its fair share of stress, but from what I am reading, traveling can also have the opposite effect. David K. William's article "Science Proves that Traveling Can Boost Your Health and Overall Well-Being" believes that travel holds many benefits. In his writing, he says that just planning the trip creates a feeling of happiness. He also writes that travel can reduce the chance of depression and even your risk of a heart attack. Many of us going through divorce experience depression. If travel can help decrease depression, I say sign me up. It is Party Time! Let's Plan a Party for August. Let's Have a Taco Party!   I love the thought of being able to help others.  I have found in my lifetime that there are many organizations you can get involved with that reach out to help those in need.  Organizations often need you to be physically present, and at other times, they need donations to assist those in need.  All ways in which people reach out to help others are important.  One of the best ways for most of us to help those in need is to help those we come across in our day-to-day lives.  A neighbor who needs a helping hand, local charities, or a person you may come across that just needs someone to take the time to listen.   I think we need to keep our eyes open to every opportunity to help those around us.  Sometimes the need may be monetary, but many times it may be as simple as a hug to make someone's day.  Also, be aware that it is ok if you are the one in need.  Many times, when I was feeling down, the help would have come in the simplicity of a smile or a hug.  Keep your eyes open for a

  Entertainment Wrap-Up Welcome to my entertainment wrap-up.  Below are the books I am reading, the shows and movies I am watching, and one music video just for fun. TV and Movies 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥 Amazon TV 1- Jury Duty- This one is great.  It is a reality show of sorts, and I give it a 10/10 on my scale. I am going to watch it again! Movie 2-Scapegoat I  thoroughly enjoyed this movie.  I would give it a 9/10 on my movie scale.   This is a motivational post from my divorce blog.  I wrote it early in my separation and divorce process.   Psalm 143:8 is a beautiful verse that we can hold unto in the good and the bad times in our lives. Monthly Motivation I have found, in my transition, that one of the most difficult parts of my day is just getting out of bed.  I could lay there for hours in a strange form of emotional pain.  As I encounter people in my situation, which is almost daily, they too have this problem.  "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.   Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul". Psalm 143:8 I thank you for this life, Lord, even the painful times, because it makes me draw closer to you.  Help me to see my life as an adventure regardless of where I find myself.  Help me to see you in every situation. Please show me the way I should go,  for to you, Lord, I do lift up my soul.  Amen Always remember God's Promise 'I
