Restaurant Review; Persimmons Waterfront Restaurant New Bern NC

Image
On this particular day, I have walked up and down the lovely streets of historic New Bern.  I have photographed churches, Victorian-style homes, and the occasional New Bern Bear.  After all that walking in the hot sun the big question is where I should go to enjoy a nice lunch and cold glass of wine?  I wanted to be on the water, and I had heard the food was good at Persimmons Waterfront Restaurant , so I decided to give it a try. Here is a quote from their website, "Opened in August of 2010, Persimmons is a locally-owned waterfront restaurant located on the shores of the Neuse River in New Bern, NC. We feature an elegant yet casual atmosphere and three distinct dining venues: our downstairs great room, our private upstairs dining room, and our picturesque outdoor waterfront dining area. Persimmons focuses on modern cuisine made from locally-sourced ingredients by our award-winning chef and hosting a variety of special events with waterfront dining, fresh food, and the frien

Morning Motivation; I Choose Faith

Image
If you are going through a separation or divorce or any life-changing event you are on a new path.  Sometimes this new path is leading us down a road that is unknown and possibly a bit unsettling.  I believe that we need to keep walking down this road and trust God in our uncertainty.  I too believe God will direct our path and lead us in the way we should go. God Bless you on your journey.  Know that God walks beside you and he will never leave you or forsake you. Thank you God! KathieyV "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit". Romans 15:13

Morning Motivation; The Hope Chest

Image
It's interesting that there are times in our lives that we feel we have it all figured out.  We know just what we need and are confident that our hopes are the right ones and in line with God's will for our lives.  These self-proclaimed hopes as far as we can see at the moment will never change.  Well, I have found that not to be the case.  Our situations, our experiences, our joys, and our pains may lead us to other hopes and dreams.  A dear friend of mine had a hope chest.  We were teens at the time, and I can remember her chest filled with sheets, towels, tablecloths and other household items leading up to her envisioned and hoped for marriage.  Her hopes sounded perfect to me.  I now wanted a hope chest because I had a dream of marriage and a lovely home, with happy kids, and endless friends.  What would I have put in my hope chest in my teen years?  I would have put things in the chest for my home.  I also had nonphysical hopes such as the hope of a loving

Caleb and Nana's Adventures; Kudzu Children's Museum in Chapel Hill NC

Image
Caleb spent most of the week with me during his spring break last week.  The big question was what to do to get out of the house each day.   We decided to take local adventures.  We visited three museums in three days one of which was Kudzu Children's Museum  at University Mall in Chapel Hill.  What a great place! Here is a quote from their website... "At Kidzu —make, build, explore and learn— an adventurous expanded Museum experience for age infant to tween. Kidzu’s new 8,500 square foot space is multi-sensory, play-centered, and focused on providing area children and their families, teachers, and caregivers an ever-changing menu of exhibits and programs that inspire creativity, collaboration and community. Kids Children’s Museum is a hands-on museum dedicated to inspiring young children and the adults in their lives to learn through purposeful play. " Caleb enjoying the Tree House. I like the artwork on display at the museum.  My favorite is the farm a

I love to read.  That being said I don't spend as much time reading as I probably should.  I am trying to spend more time enjoying the written word, and I do have several books on my April reading list.  So, What are my reading goals for April? When I get up in the morning I put the coffee on.  While I wait for the perfect cup of coffee I take some time for daily devotions.  I am still reading  Glimpses of God's Grace  and I have added  Dear Jesus by Sarah Young                                                       I have three books on my nightstand.  I do most of my reading at night.                                    Books on my desk.. I have read through Make Money Blogging.  I can't say I really finished the book yet because I need to work on implementing what I learned. Book Review "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrik Backman

Image
"A Man Called Ove" Author- Fredrik Backman Genre-Fiction Pages 337 Ratings Amazon 4.5 stars. Good Reads 4.5 stars.                                               A quote from the book back cover. "Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him “the bitter neighbor from hell.” But must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?" Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a local residents’ associati

Now we see only a dim likeness of things. It is as if we were seeing them in a foggy mirror. But someday we will see clearly. We will see face to face. What I know now is not complete. But someday I will know completely, just as God knows me completely. 1 Corinthians 13:12 It was spring break for my grandson Caleb.  We decided to go to a museum every day for three days.  The first museum had a special exhibit that contained challenging mazes and puzzles.  I know that I am not the best at making my way through mazes, but we decided to give it a go.   I enjoyed the first maze.  This maze was geared to the younger kids in the crowd.  What I liked about it was that I could look over the barriers and quickly plot my course for an easy exit.  Yes, I saw clearly, and it felt good. Having made it through the first maze Caleb and I were feeling overconfident, so we decided to try the more difficult of the available mazes. This maze was one with high barriers so much so that I coul

Art In Bloom at the North Carolina Museum of Art 2018

Image
I have heard about the Art in Bloom event held at the NCMA in Raleigh NC, but I have never attended.  Until now, one of my Meetup groups was going, and I jumped at the chance to go with them. I met up with my group at the museum entrance.  Then with camera in hand, I began my exploration. Here is how the website describes the event... "Art in Bloom features more than 50 floral masterpieces created by world-class designers  inspired by art in the Museum’s collection."  NCMA This was one of my favorites.   The inspiration was the falcon, I think it is a falcon, could be a hawk, I don't know,  let's say it's a bird, in the right-hand corner of the photo.  I did not get photos of all the lovely arrangements but below are some that I captured.  Enjoy:-) I liked the interpretation below.  The box used for the arrangement was much like the wagon in the painting.  I also could appreciate the flowing orange flowers that depict what appears to

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only  Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.   2  In My Father’s house are many mansions;  if  it were  not  so,  I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself;  that where I am,  there  you may be also.   John 14:1-3 Have a great day everyone and remember that God is with us at all times.  He is beside us on the good days and he holds us during  difficulties.  God Bless!
