A quote from the book back cover.

"Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him “the bitter neighbor from hell.” But must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?"

Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a local residents’ association to their very foundations."

This book, as you have told, is about the life of a Man named Ove.  My first impression of him was a negative one.   He is grumpy and a complainer but you soon realize that there is much move below the rough exterior.  I grew to love Ove.

I enjoy all the characters in the book.  The character development was perfect; the people seemed real.  Most of the folks in the book are caring and at times quirky.  The events in the book range from heartwarming, comical and some are painful, just like life.

It is difficult for me to choose a favorite character.  If I had to, I would probably select Ova's wife Sonja; she is a sweetheart, although there were many other personalities that I loved.

What can I take away from this book?  Not to be too quick to judge based on first impressions.
How would I rate this book based on my book scale.  I would give it a solid 4.5.  A movie was produced from the book and I plan on watching it.
Two quotes from the book...

Happy Reading Everyone!
