Reviewing a Restaurant Near Me The State Farmers Market Restaurant in Raleigh NC

I was in Raleigh at the State Farmers Market for Watermelon Day, and it was lunchtime.  Not knowing where to eat I asked some of the nice people I encountered what they would suggest.  I was told there were a couple of good lunch choices on the property.  They mentioned the NC Seafood Restaurant and The State Farmers Market Restaurant.  All agreed they were both fantastic.

I decided to try the State Farmers Market Restaurant.

"The State Farmer’s Market Restaurant was originally opened by Jackie Watkins at the original location in Raleigh, then moved to its current location in 1991. In 2002, Gypsy Gilliam and her son Tony (known for their other restaurant in Cary NC..Gypsy’s Shiny Diner) purchased the State Farmers Market Restaurant from the family of the late Jackie Watkins. The “Market,” as it is affectionately called by the many hungry customers , offers FRESH, HOME-COOKED meals featuring “REAL BISCUITS”, fresh vegetables, pork, poultry and other “Got to be NC” based products."

While I was waiting to place my order, I enjoyed the lovely murals throughout the restaurant.

Everyone gets their delicious biscuits and hushpuppies.
For lunch, I decided to order the veggie plate.  I was in the mood to enjoy some of the fresh veggies that I had seen at the market.  I choose four vegetables from the menu.  The corn pudding, fresh tomatoes, green beans, and mashed potatoes.
I loved the corn pudding.  It was sweet and delicious.  It could have been dessert.  The green beans were terrific, just like my mom used to make.  I also very much enjoyed the tomatoes and mashed potatoes.

I sat at the bar to enjoy my lunch.  I am glad I did because I met some very nice people who frequent this restaurant.  They all said the service and food are excellent. I too found that to be the case.
To sum it up.  The State Farmers Market Restaurant in Raleigh is a county casual restaurant.
They offer delicious county cooking and welcoming service.
Happy Eating Everyone!
