Photoshop....Where Did The Oil Paint Filter Go????

Image
I need to take a class to learn the basics of Photoshop.  I have been getting the application through Adobe and have only mastered one thing and that is the Oil Paint Filter.  Why did I master that particular mode?  Because it is so easy, no layers to deal with. You save your photo as a smart object and then hit the Oil Paint option under filter.  And that easy you have an oil painting.
Well I had just downloaded the version Photoshop CC 2014 and found there was no option for oil paints.  My heart sank...."That is all I know how to do".  I went on line seeking an answer and quickly found other folks also looking for this missing option.  If you are in this boat too I did find a link that helped me Creative Cloud Help.  Here they will show you how to go about about obtaining the older version, PhotoShop CC, under previous versions.  I did it and it works so you can too.

The Lord is My Shepherd I Shall Not Want.....Broken

Image
I am a member of various websites for people going through divorce.  The stories are heartbreaking but real and not to be ignored.  It still amazes me that someone can intentionally do this extent of harm to someone without regret.  Says a lot about their character.
One woman,  married nearly 30 years when her husband walked out, says "I can't get through mass without crying.  I am really trying to find some answers but don't seem to find any....Just Broken"
Sad!
I woke up at 3am with this poem type response.  I think I will send it to her....

Broken I am broken Lord, I don't know what to do. The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.
I think my life is over.  Do I even have a future? The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.
So many decisions to make.  I don't know where to start. He leads me beside the still waters.
I have no direction.  I want to give up to just run away. He leads me beside the still waters.
I feel the gentle breeze of spring on my face.  I sm…

Restaurant Review..Cafe Bistro at the Streets at Southpoint

Image
We have a very nice mall here in Durham, The Streets at Southpoint. One of the restaurants that my daughter and I enjoy going to is Cafe Bistro found in the Nordstrom Department Store.  There are many dinning options at Southpoint and this is one of our many favorites.
"Enjoy delicious food and drinks at a Nordstrom near you. Featuring fresh ingredients,  our menus vary by restaurant type, season and region. Our coffee bars  offer handcrafted beverages prepared by skilled baristas." (Quote from the Nordstrom Website) My daughter usually gets the, Roasted Chicken and Herb Goat Cheese Sandwich $11.25 Served with bistro french fries and kalamata olive aioli.

It is yummy. I love the aioli dipping sauce that comes with the fries.  I could eat that all day:-) The last time we went I decided to try the Margherita Pizza $10.95

Yes, we had another great meal at the Cafe Bistro.  Next time you are at the mall I suggest you give it a try.  I have never been disappointed.
Happy Eating! Kathi…

Restaurant Review..Harborview Restaurant and Lounge, Charleston SC

Image
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend a conference in Charleston S.C.  I decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Riverview just across the river from Charleston.  I would go to my all day conference and then head back to the hotel where I would enjoy an amazing view of the city and a wonderful meal. Here is a description from their website….
"Harborview Restaurant and Lounge commands the most spectacular views of the Ashley River and the Charleston Skyline.  The Holiday Inn Riverview was specifically designed to take full advantage of the natural beauty of the region and provide an exceptional view to each guest.  With east to west views, sunrise breakfast and sunset dinning at the Harborview Restaurant & Lounge are a must.  Indulge yourself with our mouth watering southern style menu while enjoying "the view"."

The view…(It was rainy and overcast the entire length of my stay, but still beautiful)

The food…..
Had to have wine with every meal.  My own p…

Travel:Holiday Inn Charleston-Riverview….Charleston SC

Image
As most of you know I am writing a book.  Not sure of the steps I need to take to publish my book I jumped at the chance to go to a Publishers Conference in Charleston S.C.  This event was just what I needed.  It gave me a great overview as to my options in publishing.  If you are interested it is called PubSense Summit.

The question for me was where to stay.  I wanted to get the best bang for my buck.  The Hotel where the conference was held was a bit above my budget, plus you had to pay for parking.  Most of the other hotels in that area were about the same price or higher.  So I consulted the Holiday Inn website.  I found one that was reasonable and had an amazing view of the Charleston skyline.  The Holiday Inn Charleston-Riverview I had read the reviews and for the most part they were positive.  Everyone spoke of the amazing view. I couldn't wait to look out my room window to see the view that was promised.  Oh no!  The waffle house:-)  That was my view from my window.  I thou…
