Photography….Playing With Photoshop Filters

Photoshop.  I find to be the opposite of user friendly, however when I do figure something out the results are amazing.  I decided to try out the filter options today.  The most difficult thing for me was to get the photo in the proper format to actually change the image.  The easiest way I found was to open the image and then reopen it as a smart object then you can go directly to filters and play.  I am sure there is a much better way to do this but for me this was the easiest way.  What I would suggest is that you edit you photo first, download it to photoshop, and then begin to play.  Here are my results….Before and after shots…

Had a great time playing.  If you have photoshop I suggest you take a few photos and give the filters a try.  If you are on my level you "will" get frustrated because it is difficult to find the proper steps.  I must have spent an hour on google searching but to no avail. I finally went to my book for
dummies:-) It is fun and well worth trying to…

Monday Morning Motivation…Blessings

I have a routine in the morning.  Get up make coffee (priority 1 :-), take a shower, feed Brodie, and then make my toast and have my devotions.  In my devotional time I read from the old and new testament and then read a chapter or two from an inspirational book and then have my prayer time.  I had to mix it up today.  I had left my Bible in the car and did not want to go out to the car in my PJ's to get it for fear I would scare my neighbors.  A very kind friend had given me the sheet music for the song Blessings by Laura Story.  I love that song.  So I spent some time playing and singing this song and again recommitting everything to God who loves and cares for me/us….
"Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops.  What if your healing comes through tears, what if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know your near?  What if my greatest disappointments or the aching of this life is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy.  And what …

Monday Morning Motivation….Layers…The Good and the Bad...

I have been reading a unique book, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, by Aimee Bender.  I found the premise of the book to be very interesting.  The main character in this book has a gift.  Her gift is the ability to taste feelings and emotions in the food that someone prepares for her.  She can taste joy, betrayal, fear, loneliness, all the feelings and emotions, the truths, hidden in the layers of the food.  This is how she gets to know who you really are.
That go me thinking, "what would my daughters and friends know about me if I were to have them over for a homemade meal?".  What would they taste in the layers?
I know they would experience some unpleasant layers.  Layers brought on by being thrown away.  They would taste the emotional pain of abandonment.  They would know the  hurt and sadness brought on by a family divided and the physical discomfort of anxiety. If this was all they were able to taste it would not be a very nice meal.   But that is not all….

The Beauty that Surrounds Us…...Plant Delights Nursery….

I had the day off and decided to gather my camera equipment and go on a photo shoot.  I had read about a place in Raleigh calledPlant Delights Nursery.  The nursery is not typically opened to the public.  You can make an appointment to visit or go to one of their open to the public weekends.  As fate would have it they were opened this weekend so off I went.  Here is what they have to say on their web site…
"Established in 1988, Plant Delights Nursery Inc. is a family owned and operated, on-line/brick and mortar, retail mail order plant nursery in Raleigh, North Carolina, specializing in perennial plants, new and exotic plants, American native plants, and rare plants from around the world. Since 1988, Plant Delights Nursery has been the choice of serious gardeners and plant collectors looking for the best and rarest perennial plants. Welcome to our family of plant lovers!"

It was quite a drive for me, but a very nice drive.  I avoided the highway and took the back roads.  Nic…
