Afternoon Tea at The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary NC

Stephanie, Erica, and I wanted to go on an adventure.  We like tea so we decided to try Afternoon Tea at the Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary.
Here are a couple of quotes from their website...
"Afternoon Tea is served in the lobby lounge, situated amongst the art adorned walls, enhanced by the hotel's Dale Chihuly glass sculpture. Afternoon Tea is a welcoming and elegant way to spend an afternoon socializing." "Afternoon Tea is served Wednesday - Sunday from 2:30-4:00pm."  "Live harpist accompaniment adds to the soothing environment."
Click for a PDF of the menu along with the types of tea they serve.  I chose the Earl Grey Tea.  It was lovely.
I think tea sandwiches are so much fun.  I don't know if I could pick a favorite they were all delicious.
After the tea sandwiches, we were served a variety of scones. Yummy.  And yes, if you were wondering, we ate all of those too:-) Now it was time for the final course, "Sweets". I absolutely loved …

Interesting Places to Visit in NC...The Pisgah Covered Bridge in Ashboro NC.

My mom used to talk about the beautiful covered bridges in Pennsylvania.  I remember visiting at least one as a small child.  I was excited to find out that there is a covered bridge in Ashboro.  It is named the Pisgah Covered Bridge. I am going to put it on my bucket list of places to visit.

The bridge was built in 1911 at a cost of $40.00.  It is a one lane bridge.  It was washed away by a flood in 2003 but quickly rebuilt.  I did read that there is now graffiti on the bridge but that it is still worth the visit.
The zoo in Ashboro is the main reason I have visited the area.  The bridge is about 20 minutes from the zoo.  If you have time you could visit both the zoo and the bridge.

You can go to the Trip Advisor site to read reviews from folks who have been there.  The address is, 6925 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd Asheboro, NC 27205 Please check out the website for more details so that you can plan your visit. Take Care and Happy Adventures. KathieyV:-)

Interesting Places to Visit in North Carolina The Country Doctor Museum

I am usually on the search to find interesting places in NC that I would like to visit.  The Country Doctor Museum is one of them.  Being an RN, it is interesting to learn about prior treatment techniques and options.  The Country Doctor Museum is a place that is on my must see places in NC.   Below you will find some photos and quotes from their website. "The Country Doctor Museum invites people of all ages to visit and learn about the history of rural health care in the United States. Docents lead tours through three buildings of exhibits and are available to answer questions. Exhibits contain artifacts relevant to the practice of medicine between the late 18th century and the first half of the 20th century." "..the Museum's collection grew to over 5,000 medical artifacts and many volumes of historic texts gathered from across the nation."

Morning Motivation "You are the God who sees me" Thank you God!

Hagar in the book of Genesis did not have it easy.  But even with difficulty in her life, she recognized God as "the God who sees me."  Help us, God, to realize you see us too.  In pain, in the joy and everything in-between thank you God for being the God who sees, understands and guides us. Amen KathieyV

Ride the Rails at Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock NC

I don't know how many times I have driven by Tweetsie Railroad.  It is on the road that leads from Blowing Rock to Boone, both of which I have frequented.  I have heard a lot about Tweetsie over the years and of some of their annual events such as The Ghost Train during Halloween and Tweetsie Christmas.  They hold many other events throughout the year as well.
My family and I were renting a house near Boone NC.  Caleb had just turned 6, and it seemed to be the perfect time to visit this theme park.
Tweetsie Railroad opened in July of 1957.  That means it has been in existence for 60 years and still going strong.  Just like me...60 and going strong:-) Tweetsie Railroad sits on 200 beautiful rolling acres.

They have several live shows, and places to shop, plus rides and other attractions.  I enjoyed the roaming characters.  You can see the dancers, saloon girls, and cowboys in the photo below.  Trouble is coming, looks like a gun fight getting ready to happen.  The steam engines ar…

Kendra Scott at North Hills in Raleigh NC

I had an opportunity to attend a Kendra Scott event a couple of weeks ago.  Yes, I did get free food and drink to cover this event, which was very nice.  It was held at the Kendra Scott at North Hills in Raleigh.
Just who is Kendra Scott?  Here are a couple of quotes from her website... "Kendra Scott is a loving mom, a driven entrepreneur, and a passionate designer who believes the truest form of success is giving back in a meaningful way." "Since she began her company, Kendra has lived by three core values: Family, Fashion and Philanthropy." My blogger daughter, Stephanie from MomUnglued, and I attended the event. With my camera in hand, we set out to explore all that Kendra had to offer. We were not disappointed.  There were many beautiful pieces.
The store is beautiful.  It has a warm and inviting feel and is open and bright with many windows looking out onto the other shops at North Hills.
Seasons 52 in Raleigh provided a great spread. I loved the artwork I found…
